Stan Galli, who worked as a commercial illustrator during the 50s and 60s, was commissioned to produce a number of posters for United Air Lines. In this poster he shows a couple on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial with the imposing columns as an impressive backdrop.
United Air Lines was originally set up by aviation pioneer William Boeing in in 1916 although it wasn't called United until 1931. It can now claim to be one of the oldest and largest carriers in the world.
