TWA Poster - India
The design for this original vintage travel advertising poster - India Fly TWA - was created in the early 1950’s by the American artist David Klein (1918-2005) and updated in the early 1960's with a jet instead of the earlier propeller plane, the Constellation. This beautiful poster shows an elephant decorated with precious gems in front of an Indian wall relief. Elephants were closely associated with royalty in India, often adorned with expensive fabrics and carrying a howdah for the ruler to sit in during processions.
Trans World Airlines (TWA) was formed in the early part of the twentieth century and came under the control of Howard Hughes from 1939-1961.
