Nice Poster

Beautiful Henri Matisse  image in this original Riviera poster printed by Mourlot for the French Tourism Office to promote Nice in France on the Côte d'Azur.

The gouache paint and cut-out paper artwork, entitled La Danseuse Creole, was produced by Matisse in 1950 and gifted to the museum before he died.

The Côte d'Azur is on the Mediterranean coast of France. It includes some of the most glamorous beach resorts in the world. By the 1960's it had become a haven for the jet-set, drawing the rich and famous to Cannes, Nice, Antibes and Saint Tropez.
