United Air Lines Poster - Hawaii

Stan Galli, who worked as a commercial illustrator during the 1950s and 60s, was commissioned to produce a number of posters for United Air Lines.  In this poster he shows an Hawaiian woman wearing a lei, the traditional floral garland often presented to visitors as a sign of welcome and affection.

Aviation pioneer William Boeing set up what was to become United Air Lines in 1916. The Honolulu service began in 1947. United can now claim to be one of the oldest and largest carriers in the world.
