Air France Poster - Japan
Georges Mathieu was an abstract artist who worked as a painter and designer and was the creator of Tachism, promoting an 'aesthetic of risk' and the notion of speed when producing art. His work has been shown internationally and he was commissioned by Air France in 1967 to produce a set of fifteen travel posters, among them Japan, USA, France, Great Britain and Italy.
Since 1933, Air France has had a long and illustrious history producing bold and eye-catching advertising campaigns. By employing notable artists, often with their own distinctive styles, they have managed to capture the romance and wonder of travel with some beautiful posters, including this one by Georges Mathieu.
