This TAI decorative double hemisphere map is by Luc Marie Bayle. He had been a naval officer and had a keen interest in maritime and aeronautical history. Here he surrounds the hemispheres with images of explorers in various forms of transport, including a hot air balloon, aeroplanes, sailing ships, rowing boats and galleons.

Trans Aériens Intercontinentaux began as a charter airline in 1946 in association with Messageries Maritime Shipping Company.
